There is so much to do in preparation for your move: set up mail forwarding, change over your utilities, and so on. If you want everything else to go as smoothly as possible, you'll need to prepare well. It's a time-consuming and detailed process, but it'll ultimately make your move significantly more simple and less stressful.

  • Update your contact information with your banks and credit card companies. Some utility providers will require this information with your new address to setup service.
  • Everything you own may fit perfectly in your current residence, but the same can't always be said when entering a new home. Set aside some time to measure your new home and consider templating your furniture. This quick process will save you time, energy and money!

Packing and labeling

Packing boxes can be a very long process, and there are many things to consider. It gets a little stressful, so let's take a look on how to break up this enormous undertaking.

  • Packing "by room" is an idea worth pursuing, but it doesn't always work out. There are all sorts of situations in which you may want to mix contents from room to room, but it makes keeping track of what's where a lot harder. If sorting by room does work for you, stick to it. If you want more flexibility, there are other options.
  • Staying organized while packing will save you a lot more time and effort in the long run. Know your system and stick to it.
  • Unmarked boxes make unpacking very confusing. We recommend packing labels to keep track of all your stuff.

Moving out

This is it, moving day! If you followed some of our helpful steps AZ Active Movers will ensure that this process moves as efficiently as possible.

  • Our team will arrive at the designated time to help get all of your items loaded. We recommend that you be on site during this process. After making a final tour of your home, please be sure to verify your new address with the driver, and exchange contact info in case we will need to be reached prior to the scheduled arrival time.
  • Before leaving your previous home for the last time, take a final look and confirm that everything is shut off, water, furnace, A/C, lights, etc. Are all the windows and doors locked? Do you need to leave your house key somewhere?

Moving in

If you've taken the time to prepare, unpacking shouldn't be too difficult. Nonetheless, you'll still have a number of tasks ahead of you. Here are some things to consider when moving in to help everything go smoothly.

  • While some furniture may require reassembly, chances are you don't have the instruction manual anymore. Fortunately most companies provide their assembly instructions online though their website. In the event you cannot find it that way, make a quick call the to manufacturer, and they will mail or fax you a copy.
  • It's always easiest to clean an empty home. Before bringing your belongings inside, take a few moments to clean and dust. Additionally, do the same with any large furniture you have transported.
